GCS Winter Guard - Debut Performance
The new GCS Winter Guard proudly represented the Corps this past weekend at their debut performance in Austin, Texas. The group caravanned over to Austin, arriving around 2 PM. After some stretching and warming up the Guard went into rehearsal mode showing just how focused and determined they are. Given all the hardships these guys and gals have had to endure over the past 3 months it is absolutely amazing how clean they are. Between bouncing all over the city to different rehearsal sites, loosing their instructor/director, and having to use old equipment, somehow they managed to find time to learn and clean a VERY entertaining show.
GCS was the final unit to take the floor in the days competition. While the show wasn't perfect and isn't yet finished, they left the audience on the edge of their seats wanting more! And... it's coming.
Now, of course, we have all of the early season problems worked out and it should be smooth sailing ahead. I couldn't be more proud of this new addition to the GCS family. My special thanks to Dave Breitwieser, Jenny Todd, and Melanie Gutierrez for stepping up and becoming the strong leaders that we need.
