Gulf Coast Sound (Winter) Drum & Bugle Corps

February 8th, 2003

The first show of the 2003 Winter Guard\Corps season was a lot of fun. We have tons of things to fix, but we're on the right track. I was stopped numerous times after the show and told by audience members that they loved the show. Other staff and members of GCS also reported similar stories. It's nice to know we entertained the audience. They're the reason we do what we do.

We layed out the template for what a show day should be like. We had a great warm-up session with TJ and followed it with some pretty good run-throughs of the show. We also had plenty of time to relax and chill before game time.

The only real "incident" was in trying to find the lights to the auditorium. Scott and I tried (in vain) for nearly 30 minutes. Scott even ended up on the cat-walks above the seats (30 feet in the air) at one point. Who said Drum Corps isn't dangerous! Luckily Craig saved the day with the insight and knowledge of high school operations that only a band director could have.
