Gulf Coast Sound (Winter) Drum & Bugle Corps

April 6th, 2002

The final TCGC show of the year was a huge success. We arrived in San Marcos with 4 hours to spare. So, we took our time getting set up. We had our pictures taken and the went to the warmup area about as slowly as possible. We warmed up and tuned in a large gym with a dozen other units coming and going and every 10 minutes a guard came in to fold up their floor. It was total chaos! But we managed to get warmed up and tuned in spite of it all. After the first full run through the 'spectators' broke into applause and cheers. It very welcomed, but unexpected. I don't they were they expecting a Drum & Bugle Corps to be rehearsing in there.

The show went off without a hitch and was dedicated to Orlando's really good friend, Les. If you want to know who Les is you have to join the Corps!

There must have been a thousand guard members packed onto the field (court) for Retreat. The Corps seemed very relaxed and we goofed off as usual. When the 2nd place guard was announced we finally got started to get a little excited. The Corps and Guard walked up center stage and received medals. It was a GREAT way to end the season!

We are gearing up for the possibility of taking the show to DCA to compete in Mini-Corps this summer. All in all it's been a great year!
