Gulf Coast Sound (Winter) Drum & Bugle Corps
March 9th, 2002
The day was absolutely beautiful. It was almost a shame to be inside
performing. At least the drive up to Leander, TX (just North of
Austin, TX) was a nice one.
Our first "tour" went surprisingly well. Of course nothing
is ever perfect and Murphy's Law is typically the rule when doing
something this complex. We ended up having a terrible rehearsal and
lost the drummer! As it turned out Craig (da drummer) was waiting for
us at the school were the show was. We also managed to pull ourselves
together and focus during warmup. The performance was pretty decent
and the crowd really enjoyed it.
Our scores again went up "and there was much rejoicing...."
Drum Corps World came to the show to interview the Corps and find
what in the world we were doing. I think we impressed 'em. It will
be interesting to see how the rest of the world reacts to this.
After the show the Corps and the Guard went out to eat together. I
was hoping for a little more interaction between the units. But,
like a middle school dance, the Guard sat on their side and the
Corps sat on it's side. I guess we'll have to try again. All in all
it was a great day to be in drum corps.
Final Score: 57.5
