Gulf Coast Sound (Winter) Drum & Bugle Corps
January 19th, 2002
The first show of the 2002 Winter Guard\Corps season was a success.
The corps took the field (court) around 7 PM after a pretty long
rehearsal day. Although we had numerous problems with phasing at
Friday's rehearsal, everything 'clicked' Saturday night. The show
was far from perfect, but we proved that the concept does work. The
audience seemed a little skeptical at first, but by the halfway point
they were acting like a drum corps crowd and cheering at all the right
places.
GCS is competing in Independent World Class
The final score was 43.8
The score may seem low, but that is due to the fact that MCM really
should be judged on Independent A Class sheets. But, because the
average age of the hornline is about 28, we have to compete as World
Class. However, the judges loved the show and the concept. This
isn't about winning, it's about having fun and entertaining the
audience.
