HOUSTON AERO'S HOCKEY GIG

Postby Andrea McKinney » Tue Sep 22, 2009 4:12 pm

I did a little research and got some information. Following below, I will list dates that are available to us to perform at the Aero's Hockey game. Please review the dates and post when you would be able to perform at one or several of these games. I spoke with the Marketing Director and I need to contact her asap to let her know to secure any and all dates that we would be available to perform. This is not a paying gig, but it will get GCS out there. They will supply us with tickets that normally sell for $10. They can mark the tickets as much as $15, we sell them as a fundraiser and we keep anything that we get over the $10, is how I'm understanding this. We don't have to sell the tickets but she let me know that that is an option. If we have friends/family that want to come and see us perform, they can get in for $10. When I call to settle on dates, I will follow up with any and all questions that any of you may have with the marketing director. Please bear with me as I'm new to dealing with this kind of stuff. Call or email me with any questions/concerns. I also wanted to let you all know that I have made calls to the Houston Texans as well as the Houston Rockets and am waiting on the marketing directors to call.
Thank you,
Andi

Andi, how soon do we need to let them know we want a date?

I need to get GW back together, but it'll take time to get a largely new group up to speed.

Jason,

The marketing director told me to let her know as soon as possible, they are scheduling performances as people call in to reserve dates. The sooner we let her know about a particular date the more likely we are to get it. Do you want to schedule 2010? Let me know...

Thanks

Thanks Andi. I'm working on plans to get GW rebooted, but it'll be 2-3 weeks before I can go with it.

Why not go ahead and go on the 10th of April then?

This would give us plenty of time to rehearse....

Jenny and her students would be there....

Good plan. Andi, go ahead and book us for April 10. I'd like to get a few earlier dates as well, but won't know about that for a few weeks.

What do they want us to do? Play from the stands? Do half-time? Both?

I wonder if Dinkles makes shoes with spikes...

Hi Jason,

Thanks for getting back with me. I'll go ahead and check on April 10 as well as all other details. I will also let her know that we are interested in booking future dates but we will have to check our schedule and get back to her. I'll post a confirmation on here as soon as I talk with her.

Hi Jason,

Here's the update:

I left a message with Laura (Marketing Director) for the Aeros. I told her that we wanted April 10. I asked her to call me back to confirm this date and details. I will send her an email to confirm all of this.

I left another message with Jonathon at the Houston Rockets, I haven't heard from him yet.

I talked with Lance Cavazos at the Houston Texans. He is one of the Marketing people. I asked him what they needed from us concerning marching a half time show. He told me that all their spots were full for this season. HOWEVER, he asked that if we had some sort of DVD, he would review it with the staff and if they have an opening they will call us to see if we would care to march. They want to see what we are and what we do before they make a decision. I also asked if there was any conflict of interest there being that the Texans had the pep band and he said no. He said they would be very interested in helping us out. So, I got his address so we could send him a dvd of ours. Anything would do. I will leave the address below.
Also, he said they haven't even started booking for 2010, but he would keep us on the top of the list when they do start booking.

As soon as I get word confirming the Aeros, I'll post it.

(Address for Texans):

Reliant Stadium
ATTN: Lance Cavazos
2 Reliant Park
Houston, TX 77054

P.S. Jason, Could you also send him our contact information if they do want us to play.

Thanks
Andi

Hmmm... Tom and I need to chat about a Texans half-time show. It's possible, but I doubt we'll attempt it in 2010. 2011 shouldn't be a problem.

ok, judging by the way Lance sounded, he was sounding like this time next year they would be able to schedule us for the Texans. I'll keep you posted. You might want to go ahead and send him any info on GCS so we can have that to work towards. Just a thought...
I emailed Laura from the Aeros and am waiting for a response.
Thanks for your patience and help with all of this.

The last few years I have been keeping track of the Texans pre-season schedule. A pre-season home game in August may be doable.

Hi there Jason,

I tried to email you the paperwork for the Aeros that we need to fill out. However, I kept getting a message that it was undeliverable. I'll try and attach the documents here, if that doesn't work, then I will bring all the paperwork to Oct. 1 practice for you to take a look at. I'll go ahead and fill it out and send it back to Laura. Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks

Here's an update for Aero's game as of October 5, 2009:

There will be a charge of $10.00 per person to get in. This goes for performers as well. (sorry ya'll)

We will be performing throughout the entire game.

The marketing director told me that there will be at least 4 times that we will perform and songs shouldn't be any longer than 3 minutes, otherwise we get cutoff.

As I hear from Laura (marketing director), I'll post it here.
