I'll be there as I've had my "march a parade in less than 100 degrees" fix. :D Funny thing is I got to play a DEG Super Mag 3V, "The Pig." It felt like a P/R compared to "Super Pig."

I'm finally home, but I am still not quite comprehending what I saw/felt tonight.

I tried to hold back on the pace of the rehearsal tonight because maybe we have pushed too far in the past. Come on, it was ninety-frigging-six degrees today, and everybody has put in a full day of work. Even the kids are already putting in 12 hours at band camps. Something's going to go wrong.

But then, in walks our full contra line from '08. Marilyn is singing with the mello angels again. The And(y, i, rew)s are holding their own against three times as many low brass. Stephen and Jereme are back despite working so many part-time gigs. We've got the nucleus of a guard that is already working on their own for an ensemble routine for next Spring. We do drill outside for almost an hour in the middle of the rehearsal and I'm dying. Funny, but nobody caves in.

Even after that, when we go back to tackle Land of Make Believe, Frankenstein, and Johnyy's Mambo, we're all still there pushing through our wasted chops to finish. Our kids, Oscar and Andrew, breeze through solos in Mambo. I'm not believing what I'm seeing or hearing. Nobody complained. I haven't felt this energized in a few seasons. I want more.

Some way, some how, the magic is coming back.

Maybe we all just forgot where we left it.

My thanks to all who were there tonight.
