URGENT - READ THIS!

Postby Jason Rose » Mon Feb 01, 2010 3:22 pm

The first weekend of Mardi Gras has been cancelled.

Instead, we're playing a gig for Texas Governor Rick Perry on Sunday at the Berry Center in Houston (Cypress). Sarah Palin and others will be in attendance.

This is, in no way, a political endorsement of Rick Perry. This is simply a much needed pay day.

All of you know how important Mardi Gras was/is to our finances this season. So, you can imagine what Gov Perry must be paying us in order for me to cancel it. This is the highest paying gig in Corps History.

So, it is CRITICAL that we have EVERYONE make this gig. I need every vet/rookie that we can find. We need everyone that knows what a valve and/or a drumstick is.

There will be a short rehearsal on Saturday.

The gig is on Sunday.

At this point that's all I know. As I get more details from the Gov staff I will get them to you ASAP!!

I can't stress the urgent nature of this enough. We need a good showing at this gig and I'm counting on everyone to make this happen.

On a side note: the second weekend of Mardi Gras will take place as planned. We still need that money to pay the instructional staff.

No Mardi Gras = No Staff = No Corps

Sorry to put it so bluntly, but thems is da facts.

----

Here is a list of possible music that we'll use for the gig. Exactly what we're playing has yet to be determined.

(Patriotic) America, The Beautiful
(Patriotic) Texas, Our Texas
(Patriotic) Battlestripes
(Patriotic) The Stars At Night
(Patriotic) Amber Waves
(Jazz/Funk) Chameleon
(Jazz/Funk) What Is Hip?
(Jazz) My Favorite Things
(Latin) Rio
(Western) Silverado
(Western) Magnificent 7
(Ballad) You Will Never Walk Alone
(Ballad) Knight's Adagio
(Ballad) Unchained Melody
(Pep Band) The Hey Song
(Pep Band) The NFL Theme

In addition, Jeremy and the IPT crew will be joining us and playing some of their music.

Waiting for more details...
I hate to post all of the times that Tom told me and potentially cause confusion.

So we would get to watch all of the commercials, right? And we would get to eat all of Rick Perry's food, right?

I should have the details today. Perry's staff is pretty busy at the moment. Takes a while to get a hold of them.
