Symphonic Band

Post by Corey Mark » Tue Oct 27, 2009 8:10 pm

I just visited a rehearsal of the Lone Star College-North Harris Symphonic Band led by Dr. Brack May. They were rehearsing for a band concert this Thursday night. Way cool. Bizet's Carmen, Brahms' Watermusic, some Sheldon, and other stuff.

I'm going to get closer to my musical self and join them starting next Tuesday night when they begin some new music. Should be way interesting with me never picking up a concert euph before, reading treble, and being self-taught on a G bugle. But, Dr. May is a really cool guy and urged me to join them.

By the way, 8 trumpets, 5 euphs, 4 bones, 2 tubas and 6 percussionists spells "recruiting".

They also have jazz band on Monday nights and a steel band on Wednesday nights. All are encouraged to join.
