I don't know about this forum yet, I just got here. But on others, if you reply to a post and it takes you twenty minutes to hit submit, they'll log me out before then. Which can be annoying. Remember me should fix that issue. But if you're at work and your computer is shared across shifts, you might not want to select that option. Especially if there's not a user specific login and such for said machine. And/or if others know your login(s).

I used the remember me option and haven't had to relogin yet when this was setup.

Yeah, you wouldn't. It's not something that anyone would need to know. Just geeks like me.

I'm at work and I'll just leave it open as a tab in firefox, and sometimes when I go to check on something it asks for my username and password again. I'll try the "remember me" trick and see if that helps.

I have no idea if it switches the IP around.

How often does it happen?

There's 2 things to consider.

1) You have to check the "Remember Me" box when you log in. That should resolve the issues, unless #2 is a problem.

2) Your active session is linked to your IP address for security reasons. If your ISP (internet provider) changes the Public IP you'll be logged out. This may happen severals times per day depending on how your resident geeks set things up. Also, if you access the Forum from your phone or a computer on a different network (ie home vs office) your current session will be logged out.

Hope that all makes sense.

I'll do some more research, but it looks like there's nothing I can do. And, I've personally had no problems with this. I stay logged in all day unless I check the Forum on my phone while at lunch.

Ok, one thing I don't like about this new forum...it seems to have a very short time limit of inactivity before it kicks you out and wants you to log back in again. Any way the time limit can be extended?

But one thing I DO like is that it does a much better job of keeping track of "read" vs "unread" threads.
